In this course we will review and analyze how the Department of Homeland Security was established and its intended purpose. Disasters can occur at any time and are rarely expected. A disaster can include floods, earthquakes, fires, electrical outages, or even terrorist attacks. Each of these disasters can have a negative effect on business operations and profits. So, to minimize losses one needs to be prepared and have a plan in place in case of such a disaster. As we progress, we will analyze and evaluate the successes and/or failures of the DHS as they pertain to the protection of the United States.
